Strategy is also much more important than Coromon levels, which feels really rewarding. Even had to retry a couple times for the 2nd boss. Even with some light XP grinding I never felt overleveled for an area. Trainer battles remained challenging throughout the game. Even in single player, creating a team is so strategic and rewarding because every Coromon has a role on a team.īalance is nearly perfect. So much variety in designs and I never felt like I found a Coromon that was just straight up outclassed by another one. The Coromon roster is so good! Definitely felt like quality over quantity. This game feels like the earlier gen games but with huge QoL updates. The last Pokémon games felt like a step back. It’s been a long time since a game made me giddy the same way I was when I got Red version on the Gameboy but Coromon got me. I think it's just about the best Pokemon clone (which I absolutely do not mean as a derogatory description, there is nothing wrong with more pokemon games and Coromon wears its pokemon inspiration on its sleeve) that I've played. It really makes me happy to see a new generation of game developers whose entire motivation boils down to 'you ruined my favorite game, so I'm going to make my own version.'
